Fordham University Lowenstein Hall

Fordham University Lowenstein Hall

The renovation of Lowenstein Hall, on Fordham’s Lincoln Center Campus, is the first step in establishing a modern identity for the city campus. HLW has been retained to design and upgrade the 6th floor and part of the 8th floor in this 14-story building. The 6th floor re-design is meant to be a pilot project for modernizing the entire building. This floor houses a mix of classrooms and administrative spaces for various groups, from Theater Production to Computer Science. HLW’s new design activates the hallway that runs throughout the entire floor, creating collaboration spaces and supporting interaction between departments that were previously siloed. The renovation of the 8th floor includes modernizing several specialty labs, such as the Biology lab with a Zebrafish testing component, the Electrophysiology lab, and a teaching lab. HLW also upgraded the labs’ technology, incorporating confocal microscopes.
