HLW helped Winston & Strawn relocate and create a bespoke, high quality and modern workplace that incorporates agile and open plan working environments and assists in culture development, well-being, business and technology.
This highly homogeneous workspace offers unassigned identical offices. The client reception makes the most of the views, as does the cafe, the space has been planned to suit the business culture, allowing all employees to enjoy the amenities on offer such as coffee breakout areas. The space has been planned to provide an equitable working floor, with the best views dedicated to open plan and amenity spaces, with no hierarchical preference for use.
Winston & Strawn first enlisted HLW to strategise and design a pilot floor in their New York space that experimented with more open and transparent workplace typologies, and augmented amenity offerings. The new and often unconventional work environments were introduced across one 45,000 sf floor to test how employees would acclimate to this new approach, and to inform future design for the firm’s offices worldwide. The pilot was deemed a success and HLW continued with the design and renovation of the 270,000 sf HQ. HLW subsequently executed the strategy for Winston & Strawn’s new Washington D.C. office.
